The Younger Agency opened its doors in 1984 as a full service public relations, marketing and advertising firm. President and Owner Liz Younger focused primarily on public relations and political campaigns during her first few years of business. The agency continued to find success as new opportunities arose. In late 1994, Younger was asked by the director of administration of the Airport Authority of Washoe County to conduct a research program on the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s In-Terminal Advertising Program. She and a financial consultant spent three months visiting other airports across the United States to develop a recommended program for more aggressively marketing Reno-Tahoe’s back-lit signage. Upon completion of the project on January 1, 1996, the Younger Agency was awarded a three-year contract to implement the recommended program. In less than three years, the advertising revenues to the Airport Authority increased by 60 percent. The success of this flagship program led the Younger Agency to seek out other airport advertising concession opportunities in the western region.
